What Makes the HALO System Different, and Why Certification Matters

There are a lot of water treatment products on the market. Most of them address one issue such as hard water, or chlorine, or sediment, as a standalone solution. The HALO 5 whole home water treatment system is designed to address multiple water quality concerns in a single unit: sediment, chlorine, chloramines, disinfection byproducts, and hard water scale, without salt, without a drain connection for the conditioning stage, and without the ongoing chemical inputs that traditional salt-based softeners require.

Kyle Gruner is HALO Water Treatment certified, which means he’s trained and authorized by HALO to install and service the HALO 5 system to manufacturer specifications. That certification isn’t available to every plumber. It’s a credential that requires specific product training, and it’s one that no other plumber in Metro East Illinois currently holds. If you want a HALO system installed correctly and backed by someone with the training to service it, Priority Plumbing Services is your call.

We install HALO 5 whole home water treatment systems for residential and commercial customers throughout Metro East Illinois. Priority Plumbing Services is licensed, bonded, and insured in Illinois (License No. 055-045366). Every HALO installation is backed by our 1-year warranty and 100% satisfaction guarantee, in addition to the manufacturer’s warranty on the HALO equipment itself.

Signs the HALO System May Be Right for Your Home

Traditional water softeners require salt replenishment, a regeneration cycle that uses water and sends a salt brine to the drain, and an electrical connection. The HALO ION water conditioner, integrated into the HALO 5 system, uses template-assisted crystallization to prevent hard water scale without salt, without regeneration, and without a drain connection for the conditioning stage. For homeowners who want hard water protection without the ongoing maintenance of a salt-based softener, HALO is a strong alternative.

Urgency: No urgency — call when you’re ready to explore options and we’ll assess whether HALO is right for your water.

The HALO 5 multi-stage filtration component addresses chlorine and chloramines, the disinfectants used in municipal water treatment, along with sediment, volatile organic compounds, and disinfection byproducts. If your tap water has a noticeable chlorine taste or smell that affects drinking and cooking, the filtration stage of the HALO 5 addresses it at the point of entry before water reaches any fixture in your home.

Urgency: Quality of life concern — address at your pace.

Most water treatment approaches require separate systems for separate problems, a sediment prefilter, a carbon filter, a water softener, sometimes a UV system for well water. The HALO 5 consolidates multi-stage filtration and water conditioning into a single unit that installs on the main water line. For homeowners who want comprehensive whole home water treatment without a mechanical room full of equipment, HALO is designed for exactly that.

Urgency: No urgency — call for an assessment of your water and whether HALO covers what you need.

A new construction or remodel is the ideal time to install whole home water treatment, the main line is accessible, the installation is straightforward, and you start with treated water from day one rather than retrofitting a system later. We coordinate HALO installation with new construction and remodel plumbing projects throughout Metro East Illinois.

Urgency: Coordinate during the build or remodel — point-of-entry installation is most efficient before walls close.

Scale buildup from hard water accumulates on water heater heating elements, inside dishwashers, inside washing machines, and on ice makers, reducing efficiency and shortening equipment life. The HALO ION conditioning stage prevents scale formation in the downstream plumbing and appliances connected to the treated supply. If your appliances are underperforming or failing earlier than expected, hard water is often the contributing factor.

Urgency: Address the water quality alongside the next appliance repair or replacement — treating the source protects what comes next.

What the HALO 5 System Covers

The HALO 5 system begins with sediment filtration, removing suspended particles, sand, rust, and debris from the incoming water supply before it reaches the carbon media stages. Sediment filtration protects the downstream media from premature fouling and removes particulates that affect water clarity and can damage appliance inlet valves and fixture aerators.

Multiple stages of activated carbon and specialty media address chlorine, chloramines, disinfection byproducts, volatile organic compounds, and a broad range of taste and odor compounds from municipal water treatment. Carbon filtration at the point of entry means every tap, every shower, and every appliance in the home receives filtered water, not just one fixture with an under-sink filter.

The HALO ION inline water conditioner is the scale prevention component of the HALO 5 system. It uses template-assisted crystallization to convert dissolved calcium and magnesium into microscopic crystite crystals that remain in suspension, passing through the plumbing system without depositing as scale on pipe walls, fixtures, or appliance components. No salt, no regeneration, no brine drain. The conditioned water still contains hardness minerals, it just doesn’t deposit them as scale.

The HALO 5 installs on the main water supply line where it enters the home, treating every gallon of water that enters the building before it reaches any fixture, appliance, or outlet. One installation point. Whole home coverage. No under-sink filters to replace, no point-of-use systems to maintain throughout the house.

Benefits of Choosing a Certified HALO Installer

HALO Water Treatment systems installed by non-certified contractors may void the manufacturer’s warranty. Certification means the installation was performed by someone trained by HALO to install the system correctly, which is the baseline the manufacturer requires to honor the warranty on the equipment. We’re certified. Your warranty is protected.

The HALO 5 system is available in configurations sized for different flow rate demands, the right configuration depends on your home’s size, the number of bathrooms, and your household demand. Installing a system undersized for your demand means the media doesn’t have adequate contact time to perform correctly. We size the system for your home before installation, not after a callback.

Kyle Gruner’s HALO Water Treatment certification is a differentiator no other plumber in Metro East Illinois currently offers. If you want the HALO 5 system installed by someone trained and authorized by HALO, not someone who watched a YouTube video, Priority Plumbing Services is the call. It’s a credential that’s real, documented, and matters for how the system performs and how the warranty holds.

Periodic media inspection and eventual media replacement are part of HALO 5 system ownership. When that time comes, you want it serviced by someone with the same certification who installed it, not a technician unfamiliar with the system’s configuration and media sequence. We service what we install.

A traditional salt-based water softener requires salt replenishment every 4–8 weeks, periodic resin cleaning, and a brine tank that needs monitoring. The HALO ION conditioning stage requires none of this, no salt to buy, no brine to drain, no regeneration to manage. The filtration media has a service life that we track and address at the right interval. For homeowners who want water protection without the ongoing maintenance of a salt softener, HALO offers a meaningful difference.

HALO Water Treatment Questions

Is HALO water treatment worth it?

For homeowners who want comprehensive whole home water treatment, hard water scale prevention, chlorine and disinfection byproduct removal, and sediment filtration, in a single system that requires minimal ongoing maintenance, HALO is a strong option. The value relative to a salt-based softener plus a separate carbon filter depends on your water conditions and your maintenance preferences. We assess your water and give you an honest comparison before you commit to anything.

The HALO ION uses template-assisted crystallization to change the form of hardness minerals so they don’t deposit as scale, without removing them from the water and without using salt. A traditional ion exchange softener removes hardness minerals entirely by replacing them with sodium ions. The HALO ION is a salt-free conditioner, it prevents scale formation without the salt, the brine drain, and the regeneration cycle of a traditional softener. For moderate to hard water, it’s effective at scale prevention while maintaining the mineral content of the water.

The filtration media inside the HALO 5 has a service life, typically measured in gallons processed, after which it needs to be replaced or refreshed to maintain performance. The HALO ION conditioning component requires no ongoing maintenance. We track your system’s media service interval and reach out when it’s time for service. Other than periodic media replacement, there’s no salt to add, no brine tank to monitor, and no regeneration cycle to manage.

The HALO 5 is designed for municipal water applications, it addresses chlorine, chloramines, and municipal treatment byproducts effectively. For well water with iron, bacteria, sulfur, or sediment beyond what the HALO media addresses, additional pre-treatment or a different system may be more appropriate. We assess your well water test results before recommending HALO, and if a different or supplemental system fits your water better, we’ll tell you honestly.

The HALO 5 is a premium whole home water treatment system, pricing reflects both the equipment and the certified installation. We provide a written estimate covering equipment and installation before any work begins. For customers who want to spread the cost, financing is available through Wisetack with quick pre-qualification and multiple tiers for all credit levels.

HALO certification means Kyle has completed manufacturer-required training on the HALO 5 system, correct sizing, proper installation sequence, media configuration, and service procedures. An uncertified installation may void the manufacturer warranty, may not be sized or configured correctly, and won’t have the service knowledge backing it up when maintenance is due. Certification is not just a badge, it’s the difference between the system performing as designed and not.
